The participants of the StaGe of Mind workshops which are taking place in Valladolid, Spain, since November 2021 have offered us a few days ago a sample of their evolution on stage.

They could do it on the stage of the Espacio Joven Norte of Valladolid – a youth centre where cultural and social activities are always welcomed, especially when they give the chance to promote the participation of people at risk of social exclusion and give visibility to important issues such as mental health.

Participants were able to share what they have learnt in these first phase of the project training programme. Different group exercises involving the use of eye contact, voice, body expression were showed to the audience and finally participants were invited to carry out a a one-minute individual improvisation exercise.

Their progress as a group is remarkable; it is visible that they feel comfortable in the group and support each other. For being their first time on a stage, they seemed very confident, even during the individual exercise that could be considered more demanding.

They feel ready to begin the next phase of the project, a creative phase in which, with the support of Rayuela’s performing arts experts, they will produce a play from scratch and prepare to stage it in February 2023 in a local theatre in Valladolid.
