Fundación INTRAS

INTRAS Foundation is a non-profit organisation dedicated to research and intervention with severe and prolonged mental illness, operating throughout the regions of Castilla y León and Madrid, Spain. Since 1994 it has been delivering programs addressed at promoting the autonomy of people with mental illness and empowering them to live a self-determined and self-confident life.

INTRAS offers a wide variety of services such as accommodation, psychosocial rehabilitation programs, occupational and vocational training,  as well as counseling and job placement. The organization aims to improve the quality of life of people with mental disabilities mainly by promoting their (re)integration into productive activity, above all, the labor market. In 1999, it launched a social enterprise that is currently managed by people with mental health problems and which, provides employment for the community of people struggling with their mental health. At the same time, INTRAS acknowledges the fundamental role the arts and culture should play in the lives of the members of the community. This is why they apply it in their programs daily for educational and therapeutic purposes, and always search for new methodologies to develop the creative potential of their service users.

INTRAS

RAYUELA PRODUCCIONES TEATRALES S.L

Rayuela Producciones Teatrales was founded in 1988 and, since then, it has produced nearly fifty shows. Nina Reglero and Carlos Nuevo in the creative direction, and Jacinto Gómez in the production, have consolidated a team that collaborates with multiple professionals since the founding of the company. The activity of Rayuela covers all aspects of a spectacle’s production, going from writing the script to designing the scenography, from musical composition to directing actors, from spatial design to the technical score that the actors themselves have to perform to activate the audiovisual systems.

In recent years, Rayuela has focused especially on the development of educational projects, focused on a sector of the society that is generally unconnected with theatre and dramaturgy, both as spectators and creators. This new field of activity has materialized in projects such as November 20, Lars Norén, La Nave of the Calderón Theater in Valladolid, the Rayuela LAB workshops, among others.

Society of Social Psychiatry P. Sakellaropoulos

The Society of Social Psychiatry P. Sakellaropoulos is a non-profit, non-governmental, scientific organization founded in 1986. It provides psychiatric and psychological support services, to improve the population's mental health and well-being throughout Greece. It operates various day centers, residential houses, and protected apartments countrywide. It offers rehabilitation programs, vocational training, and job placement. It operates services for the prevention and timely management of mental health problems and organizes awareness-raising campaigns among the population on mental health issues, pursuing destigmatization of mental illness. SSP P. Sakellaropoulos has vast experience in empowerment, skills training, mental health promotion, prevention, therapeutic, rehabilitation, social inclusion, vocational training services for people with mental health problems, and community awareness-raising.

In addition to mainstream psycho-therapeutic tools, the organization uses art and cultural activities in interventions with clients to involve, empower and connect the beneficiaries of mental health services, their mental health specialists, and the forces of the wider community to form a unit of empowerment of mental health and resilience.

Angels of joy

 

“Angels of Joy” is an inspirational team of dedicated arts professionals, using art as means of support to some of the most vulnerable individuals in our society, aiming to bring hope and joy into their lives. Their work is rooted in the values of humanism, compassion, and kindness. Every day and with constant steps, they pave the way for positive changes in the field of health and welfare.

The main guide of Angels of joy is the art and they believe in its power. They design their performances and creative programs according to its therapeutic, educational, and inspirational properties and endeavor to embrace the feelings of fellow human beings who are facing serious difficulties in their everyday lives.

The work of the organization is carried out by professional performing artists- actors, dancers, singers- who, in collaboration with art therapists, deliver interactive theatrical performances, music and dance programs, psychoeducational artistic programs, music therapy, and experiential support programs for staff/employees. Between 2011 and 2020 more than 14.000 people benefitted from their programs.

Housing Association for Integrated Living

Established in 2012, HAIL is a non-governmental charity organization that provides housing and support for people with mental health difficulties, enabling them to achieve and sustain independent living in the community, by having secure, quality, affordable accommodation with appropriate support services tailored to their needs. At present HAIL manages 338 apartments throughout Ireland out of which 67% is supported housing. Their mental health visiting support service has for objective to sustain tenancies and promote mental health recovery in a community context. The team members carry out regular home-based visits with clients. The needs of each client are assessed at the beginning of the intervention and a personalized plan is developed. Ongoing case management and needs reviews take place with each client.

Smashing Times is an award-winning professional theatre and film company involved in performance, training and participation. The work is underpinned by a rights-based approach and a commitment to artistic excellence, and social engagement. Over the last twenty years, the company has become a leading professional arts organization that now develops innovative, cutting edge, state of the art national and transnational projects that promote social justice, peace, gender equality, human rights and positive mental health through high-quality artistic processes, merging art, culture, and politics to interact and engage with contemporary society and the world we live in. A key aim is to create opportunities for people of all ages and cultures to work collaboratively with artists and they work in a range of settings from the professional theatre space to the local community with a focus on areas experiencing exclusion or marginalization. The work engages directly with local communities to provide professional practice and to promote the use of theatre for personal and social development, for individual and community empowerment, and the exploration of issues relevant in our lives today.
